LIWP
Labor Intensive Work Program in Yemen
Olivia Bertelli and Sikandra Kurdi (2025)
The Labor Intensive Works Program (LIWP) is implemented in Yemen by the Social Fund for Development in 2025 to alleviate unemployment and stimulate economic growth through labor-intensive projects. The long term objective is to increase the resilience of chronically or transitory poor households and reduce the negative effects of shocks and crises. The program is supported by the international donor community and is a focal point of development efforts in the country. This impact evaluation aims to verify the hypothesis derived from the Theory of Change of the program and assess its effectiveness. It should further shed light on its implications for employment, economic development, and community well-being.
